The Opportunity: Payments Sales Specialis
We’re seeking a driven, commercially minded Payments Sales Specialist to join our Melbourne office. PayNuts delivers modern, easy‑to‑use payments technology designed to keep transactions simple, so merchants can focus on growing their business.
In this phone‑based sales role, you’ll be responsible for selling a wide range of payment solutions, from standalone EFTPOS terminals to fully integrated point‑of‑sale systems, eCommerce payment gateways, and event‑based payment products. You’ll also support existing merchants through retention and repricing conversations, ensuring they continue to see value in our services.
You’ll play a pivotal role in both winning new business and strengthening existing relationships, driving revenue growth through high‑quality, consultative sales conversations every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Outbound sales generation — Conduct outbound calls to new and existing merchants to drive sales of PayNuts’ full suite of payment solutions, including EFTPOS, integrated POS, eCommerce, and event‑based payments.
- Inbound sales conversion — Manage inbound enquiries and convert prospects into active PayNuts customers through confident, solution‑focused conversations.
- Customer retention support — Handle retention calls, address churn risks, and reinforce the value of PayNuts’ technology and service.
- Repricing and negotiation — Lead repricing and save conversations, negotiating rates and packages to retain merchants while protecting margin.
- Upsell and cross‑sell identification — Identify opportunities to expand merchant usage across our product range during all customer interactions.
- Relationship building — Build strong, trust‑based relationships with merchants through professional, consultative phone‑based engagement.
- Collaboration with onboarding and support — Work closely with internal teams to ensure smooth transitions for new customers and ongoing satisfaction for existing ones.
- CRM accuracy — Accurately log all sales, retention, and repricing activity in the CRM to maintain clear visibility of pipeline and performance.
- KPI achievement — Consistently achieve sales, retention, and quality KPIs aligned to team and business goals.
About You
Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience in phone-based outbound sales (essential).
- Experience handling inbound sales and customer retention conversations.
- Previous exposure to repricing, save or churn-prevention calls is highly regarded.
- Sales experience within payments, fintech, telecommunications, or financial services preferred.
Skills & Attributes
- Confident, persuasive communicator with a strong phone presence.
- Strong objection-handling and negotiation skills, particularly in repricing discussions.
- Commercially aware with the ability to balance customer satisfaction and revenue outcomes.
- Resilient, target-driven, and comfortable working in a KPI-focused environment.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Confident using CRM systems and sales tools.
